Occasional Brass & Strings

Occasional Brass & Strings is a vibrant and fun ensemble that specializes in providing music for various events and occasions. Our range of ensembles, from duo to quintet, is suitable for weddings, receptions, cocktail parties, corporate events, religious services, graduations, and more. We excel in creating the perfect atmosphere with our trios, quartets, and quintets for outdoor weddings and cocktail hours. Our extensive and diverse repertoire spans various genres, from classical to contemporary, including arrangements of popular songs from renowned artists such as Coldplay, U2, Queen, Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, Journey, Pearl Jam, Madonna, Michael Buble, Harry Connick, Van Morrison, The Beatles, and many more. We take pride in employing local musicians from the Boston, Worcester, Cape Cod (MA), Newport (RI), Portland (ME), and Hartford (CT) areas, which helps reduce travel fees.

Our History and Future

Founded in June 2001 by two UMass Amherst alumni and former members of the popular funk band Rippopotamus, Occasional Brass & Strings started as a brass quintet initially catering to weddings. In 2006, the ensemble grew to include strings and woodwinds, transforming it into a versatile ensemble with a massive collection of music for duo, trio, quartet, and quintet arrangements. Our love for music and our desire to create unforgettable experiences for our clients have remained the driving factors behind our success.
