The Barns Of Kanak

Welcome to The Barns of Kanak, an elevated 13-acre farm venue located just 30 miles south of Richmond, VA. Nestled within 200 acres of farmland, our 13-acre grounds consist of ten barns, six silos, a cottage, farmhouse, pool, fountain, courtyards, on-site bridal shop, and ample parking. The Barns of Kanak is not just a wedding venue; it's an experience for you and your guests.

The history of The Barns of Kanak dates back to 1899 when it was originally owned by the Kanak Family. John and Molly Kanak raised 11 kids on the property and poured their hearts into the grounds and their legacy. In addition to the various barns, they built three homes, which are now commonly used for wedding parties to prepare. The youngest son, Ben Kanak, inherited the farm and lived on the property until 2016 when it took new ownership and was renovated to become a wedding + event venue.

Our goal is to provide you with an unforgettable experience from your tour of the grounds to your wedding reception exit.

The Barns of Kanak is led by Tom and Diane McCormick, a husband and wife team who had a dream of serving couples in their commitment to each other as husband and wife. Inspired by planning their daughter's wedding in May 2017, they began their search for the perfect space to welcome brides and grooms. Tom and Diane immediately fell in love with The Barns of Kanak and took ownership of the property in August 2018. Diane leads The Barns by welcoming new couples and giving tours on the property, serving as a day-of coordinator, and your point of contact for questions throughout the wedding planning process. Tom serves The Barns by managing the grounds, overseeing operations, and organizing corporate events.

We offer cottages for getting ready on-site, an on-site bridal shop, a newlywed overnight stay, and wedding coordinating team decor. Our team is committed to providing you with an unforgettable experience, and we strive to make every detail perfect.
