The Barrel House

Our Story

The Barrel House, a family-owned and operated venue, brewery, and restaurant, has been a staple in the Chambersburg landscape for over a century. With a rich history that dates back to the early 1900s, The Barrel House has evolved over the years from a storage facility for the Home Services Grocers Association to a beer distributor and, finally, to the luxurious modern venue and accommodations that it is today.

Constructed between 1904 and 1916, The Barrel House was initially part of the railroad system in Chambersburg, PA. In 1933, it became a storage facility for the Home Services Grocers Association and, in 1944, was sold to T. A. Zullinger, a beverage and goods distributor. In 1966, the building was incorporated as Chambersburg Distribution, INC, and in 2005, it was purchased by the visionaries, Barb and Lawrence Lahr, who transformed it into an incredible New York Style 3-story loft. In 2015, the current owners purchased the building and were inspired by its barrel production history, turning it into the full-service Venue, Brewery, and Restaurant that it is today.

Our Services

The Barrel House offers a wide range of services for various occasions. Our spacious first floor is perfect for entertaining guests, clients, and employees, and our full-service kitchen is complemented by a spacious dining area that can accommodate up to 150 people. We have two outdoor options, including an upper terrace with great views of downtown Chambersburg and a lower patio that's perfect for hanging out and connecting.

The 2nd and 3rd floor offers luxurious overnight accommodations for up to 8 people, making it perfect for bridal parties or out-of-town guests. Our venue is customizable and personalizable for your event, and our staff is always ready to assist in planning and preparation.

Weddings

The Barrel House is an ideal venue for weddings, with various settings and backdrops for your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We have a beautiful bridal/master suite that's perfect for preparing with your bridesmaids, and our 3rd floor loft is outfitted with an entertainment center with BOSE surround sound, multiple couches, and a kitchen, making it perfect for the groomsmen. Our onsite manager and personal chef will work closely with you to personalize your special occasion and make it unforgettable.

Business Meetings

The Barrel House is the perfect location for business meetings, with extensive audio-visual capabilities, including four 70-inch smart HD televisions and a commercial JBL sound system that can connect to your music via Bluetooth. DJs and live entertainment must use their own equipment and are not permitted to use the sound system.

Overnight Accommodations

The Barrel House offers comfortable overnight accommodations for up to 8 guests, including 3 individual queen rooms in our 3rd floor loft and an expansive master suite with a king bed, fireplace, and en suite spa bathroom.

At The Barrel House, we are committed to providing you with the best service and options to fit your needs. We offer 4-hour, 12-hour, and full weekend packages, and our venue is well-suited for small to medium-size weddings, accommodating up to 150 people. We have ample parking options, including on-street parking in front of The Barrel House, a handicap-accessible ramp and parking in the rear of the building, and partnered with local businesses for larger events.
