Our History

Kimberly Crest House & Gardens is a rich, 125-year-old estate nestled in the heart of historic Redlands, California. With a rich history dating back to 1897, our beautiful French Chateau and stunning Italian Renaissance Gardens have been the site of countless unforgettable memories for generations. The house was built by the esteemed Mrs. Cornelia Hill and has been owned by a select few, including Helen and John Alfred Kimberly, who left their mark on the estate by adding the iconic gardens.

The House

Kimberly Crest House is a stunning example of Victorian-era architecture, boasting beautiful French Chateau-style design influenced by the homes Mrs. Hill had seen on her travels to Europe. With over 7,000 square feet of living space, the estate features ten charming rooms on the first floor, including a powder room, half bath, library, parlor, main hall, dining room, and more. The second floor serves as the family's private living area, featuring two bedrooms on each side and a cozy conservatory.

The Gardens

The breathtaking Italian Renaissance-style gardens were also built by the Kimberly family in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The original 3-acre property was purchased for $3,000 by Mrs. Hill, who commissioned renowned horticulturist Franz P. Hosp to design the grounds. The gardens have since been expanded to 6 acres, featuring a picturesque fountain, rose-lined paths, and beautifully manicured lawns. The garden was named "Grandmother's Rose Garden" after the wife of John Alfred Kimberly passed away, and it continues to be a popular spot for quiet contemplation and memory-making.
