Welcome to Buttercream Cakes & Catering, where food and hospitality come together to create unforgettable experiences. I'm Ann Mayfield, the owner and founder of this thriving business, and I'm delighted to share our story with you.
Born and raised in a small town in Virginia, I was instilled with the values of hard work and strong ethics from a young age. My journey in the culinary world began with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a Marketing Emphasis and an Art Minor from Milligan College. However, my true calling was in Pastry Arts, which led me to Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, SC, where I specialized in this field.
My career took off in Charleston, where I worked as a pastry chef for a catering company named Events by Duvall. Here, I had the privilege of catering full-service events, from intimate gatherings to grand occasions worth $350,000. The experience and knowledge I gained during my time at Events by Duvall were invaluable.
Following this, I became the Executive Pastry Chef and Wedding Cake Designer at Seabrook Island, where I honed my skills in creating exquisite wedding cakes and menus for various events. In 2012, my husband and I decided to move to Myrtle Beach, where I worked as a Marketing Representative for Sysco Foods, gaining industry knowledge and expanding my network.
In 2018, I took a leap of faith and founded Buttercream Cakes & Catering, combining my passion for food, love for hospitality, and business acumen. At Buttercream, we strive to make every event, be it a small lunch catering or a lavish wedding for 500 guests, a memorable experience. I take great pride in taking care of our clients and creating food and cakes that put smiles on people's faces.
