Founded in 1751 as the French Society by Elisha Poinsett and his associates, our organization has evolved from a charitable educational institution into Charleston's premier historic event venue. Originally established to support orphan education, we built our iconic Meeting Street Hall in 1804 which has hosted everything from academic institutions to modern-day celebrations. Our venue combines 18th-century architectural grandeur with contemporary event capabilities, offering a unique space that preserves Charleston's heritage while accommodating modern needs.
